Cindy Sheehan and the "Spinmasters"
by Tom White
Submitted to Edina Sun, 9/19/05
Dear Editor,
I could not disagree more strongly with the Bob Maginnis
letter printed last week regarding Cindy Sheehan and the 50th and France
vigil attended by 400 people. I was one of those "fringe antiwar
kooks" referred to by Maginnis and I am one of the 400 "intelligent people" who
stood with her and asked for answers for a war that is killing thousands
and has already cost $250 Billion, drained from our urgent domestic needs,
and growing at $6 Billion a month. Cindy Sheehan lost a son in
a war that was sold to us on the basis of weapons of mass destruction,
the "fact" that Iraq was getting uranium from Niger and the best of all
that the war would be paid for from the sale of Iraqi oil. If
Bob Maginnis still believes in the validity of this war now that all
the reasons have been exposed as flagrant lies, it is He that has been "duped". It
was George Bush and Karl Rove who were the "spinmasters". In
fact the campaign to defame Cindy Sheehan is just a Karl Rove women's
version of the Swiftboat Veterans. When it was reported that one
of the reasons Edina went Democratic for the first time ever because
in Edina "their are many college graduates who know when they're
being hoodwinked". That is precisely why 400 of the Edina intelligentsia
were at the Cindy Sheehan vigil on August 25th. It is too bad that
Bob Maginnis was left behind........
